Hull #29

We first met Dick at the Annapolis Boat Show in '92 or '94.

At the time, Dick was building the Maine Cat 22, but was thinking about a 30 foot cruising cat, which was to become the Maine Cat 30. We had a new Dragonfly 800 trimaran (a great boat!), but figured that we would eventually want a larger cruising boat. Dick's philosophy about boats closely matched mine, so I kept my eye on his progress.

When we saw Dick's first boats at the shows in Annapolis and Miami, we were pleased with his results.

In 2001, Coralee and I booked a charter on their boat in the Bahamas to see how she sailed. We were hooked!

In the fall of 2004, we put our Dragonfly on the market. It sold right away. It took a while but we found the right Maine Cat in New York City this fall. The Maine Cat, with berths in both hulls, a table/berth on the bridgedeck, and room for extra sleeping bags, has room for our three grown kids and two grandkids (although probably not all at the same time!).

We'll bring her to Lake Erie in the spring, where we cruise in the western end, an area with a many fun port and island destinations.

In honor of my wife, and the islands in the area, we're naming our Maine Cat "Island Girl". We have more pictures, as well as links to sailing in Lake Erie at
