Hull #28 Ernie and Ginny Lorimer Westport, CT We were out on the sound Friday afternoon sailing the 14.5 miles to Port Jeff. I had a reef in the main because we'd seen puffs in the low 20's and I always reef early. Mid-sound, fighting an adverse tide of perhaps 1 knot, apparent wind at 90 degrees, the wind builds to 25 knots apparent for a sustained little bit. GPS reads 9.7 knots. Dog on the floor snoring. Ginny looks up from her book and says, "This is good, right?" And then, anchored behind the beach at Conscience Bay, with the wind in the low 20's, cool, even cold actually, we rolled down the curtains, lit a candle and had dinner. |
